One thing that you do want to be careful of is the insurance that comes when you book a vacation package. Often you are required to purchase the travel insurance in order to buy the package. The insurance is usually overpriced.
A lot of vacation operators sell vacation packages on which they make no money and make it up by overcharging on the insurance. You will definitely want to make sure that the cost of the package and the insurance works out to be less than what it would cost you to book everything individually, often it isn't.
